Estrategia

Who we are

The RURENER project is a network of small rural communities (villages and small towns) that want to reach a neutral energy print at the local level.

The Network brings tools and methods to support its members’ energy strategy set-up and evaluation. It allows them to share experience, learn from each other and promote their action through mentoring and twining activities.

Thanks to this support, small rural municipalities implement concrete action plans at the local level aiming at energy efficiency. Production of renewable energy sources, investment to save energy in buildings, education, information, etc. are at the heart of the local energy strategies. The different actions set up lead to better use of local resources and opportunities and bring innovative local development to small rural communities throughout Europe.

RURENER disseminates actions and results to welcome new members and becomes a living network of villages and small towns committed to Energetic Neutrality objectives.

RURENER is built by a consortium of 12 project partners from: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, Romania, Hungary and the UK.

WHICH FINANCING POSSIBILITIES DO COMMUNITIES HAVE FOR TURNING A SEAP INTO ACTIONS?
Category: Financing schemes
Description: The joint Sustainable Energy Action Plan of the 16 municipalities of the group „Mecseki Energiakör” was elaborated in the spring of 2014. Now the municipalities have a detailed description of the measures needed to achieve at least 20% CO2 emission reduction by 2020 but discussions on financing are crucial for the first steps of the implementation. Energiaklub organised a capacity building workshop in cooperation with the South Transdanubian Regional Development Agency in April 2014 to present the main fields of interventions listed in the SEAP of the participating communities and discuss best practices in the field of renewable energy use from the region. The first part of the workshop was dedicated to presentations on the SEAP development and implementation process as well as regional energy planning as a base for community projects. This was followed by discussions on the main obstacles faced by initiatives targeting sustainable energy management and the role of the LEADER LAG as a coordinator by the implementation of the planned actions from the planning process to financing and monitoring. In the afternoon section of the event, two geothermal energy best practices were presented by the mayors of Bóly and Szentlőrinc. Both municipalities use geothermal energy for heating purposes but the implementation of the two systems are not similar at all. While in Szentlőrinc residential buildings are heated by the geothermal district heating system, in Bóly public buildings and industrial facilities use the produced heat. The mayors of these two municipalities are very satisfied with the systems and plan to invest in other renewable energy technologies as well. Participants got enthusiastic by hearing the success stories of municipalities that posses similar potentials and face the same problems as they do. By the end of the workshop several project plans and cooperation possibilities were formed. These plans could be the first steps for a closer cooperation of the pa
