Melpignano (LE): spot-by-spot town public lighting
Category: Other
Description: The most recent project, which represent the symbol of innovation in Melpignano in the field of eco-sustainability, energy saving and clever use of new technologies at the service of the local community, is the modernization project of public lighting through installation and activation of a remote-controlled and remote-managed "spot-by-spot" system. This decision came by the statement of fact that the extension of the public lighting system often makes it difficult to assure adequate efficiency, quality and relaiability levels through traditional tools. Systems, infact, are characterized by a great quantity of crucial points spreaded all over the territory, and it is necessary to constantly control their functioning and carry out their management. In Melpignano the management of inactive lighting spots were carried out only by patrols of the lighting system employees or by complaints made by citizens. This meant very high costs in terms of time, men and means to assure a satisfactory level of quality and continuity to the service. The remote-controlled and remote-managed system has contributed to manage Melpignano's public lighting system with an adequate consumptions and costs control, to make the lighting system not to present energy consumptions higher than what was necessary, as well as providing to the citizen a less onerous and high-quality service.
